"Corrosion of mild steel"

Question:

"I was wondering if any one has some references on corrosion of underground storgae tanks. In particular the role MTBE plays with increasing corrosion rates?"

Answer:

You do not say whether your corrosion concern was based on external or internal corrosion of UG's. Dry (no water) MTBE should not be corrosive to carbon steel. It can effect elastomer seal integrity though.
