"Injection Points"

"I work as pipeline inspector in Petronor (spain). Recently we have had problems with the points of injection of anticorrosive (in this case phosphoric ester). The tubing used to inject this product is hastelloy b-2, but in spite of this, the tubing has been corroded and subsequently the pipeline, thus we have experienced a failure in the system. I´d like to know what material we could use for the tubing injection."

Answer:

Alloy B-2 can experience high corrosion rates in oxidizing environments. Most of these chemicals are corrosive in high concentrations and the fact that you use CS (Carbon steel) tubing is a significant problem. Use stainless steel. In addition, if you use the chemical skids they should be constructed of stainless steel as well.
