"Gas Turbine blades (Rene 80+CODEP)"

Question:

"Have you got any information on the superalloy Rene 80 coated with alluminides or CODEP? I need some informations on the process of casting the blades (with Rene 80) and the process of coating with CODEP and Aluminides by pack aluminizing (low activity). I need any information on the environmental attack (sulpur, hot corrosion,...) to the blades."

Answer:

Gas turbine blades are usually manufactured using investment cast "lost wax" technology. Information on coatings is more difficult to obtain as they tend to be proprietary. You can download a paper we presented on hot corrosion of Rene turbine blades at the "Members" area of our website.
