"Cathodic Protection and urethane coating"

Question:

"I am hoping that some one might be able to help me from this list. I would like to know if somebody has experiences (or information) about the carbon steel with cathodic protection system and urethane coating, I understand that if I have carbon steel with urethane coating is not advisable to use Cathodic Protection System, what do you think about that?"

Answer:

We qualify our response by saying that we are not familiar with any CP restrictions specific to urethane coatings. As a general rule, protective coatings are beneficial for CP as they reduce current requirements.
