"316L corrosion at 70°C"

Question:

"I was wondering if you could tell me about the susceptibility in corrosion of 316L SS in contact with a diluted aqueous solution of an ammonium chloride working at 70°C. Same question with a diluted aqueous solution of an anionic surfactant working at 70°C."

Answer:

Type 316SS is not recommended for use in ammonium chloride solutions, especially at elevated temperatures. We cannot comment on the compatability with an unknown "anionic surfacant".
